Much of what I paint is just outside my window or a short walk away on the farmland around my Somerset home and on nearby Exmoor. I am interested in the characteristics of the different breeds, so most of my work is animal portraiture. Working in acrylics I like to capture their expressions and interactions to create a more interesting subject. The way the light falls is also important to give the painting more form and life and I often use splatter.
